Hello Friends! My family visited Disney World this summer and it was just as magical as I had hoped it would be. Don’t get me wrong…there was rain, waiting in lines and lots of walking BUT there was also the awesome resort, fun rides, amazing shows and memorable times that we’ll always treasure.
Mary made somewhat of a Disney bucket list prior to our trip and Dole Whips was on the list. On our last day at Magic Kingdom we were positioned to watch the afternoon parade and I searched the park to find Dole Whips for Mary and I to share. They were delicious!
After our Disney vacation, I spent the remainder of the summer trying different versions on the Dole Whip Recipe that I found online. Most recipes called for pineapple chunks but I found they lacked a strong pineapple flavor, had a strong acidic taste and the leftovers did not freeze well in the freezer. (The leftovers froze like ice.)
The recipe I am going to share with you today is version 7 or 8. There’s only three ingredients but the flavor and consistency is the closest I have found to the original Disney Dole Whip. Leftovers freeze perfectly and come straight from the freezer similar to a sorbet. (We only had leftovers because I was constantly making different versions and the inside of my mouth was becoming raw from the over-consumption of pineapple!)
Disney Dole Whip Recipe:
1/2 C pineapple juice frozen concentrate
1/2 C 100% pineapple juice
2 1/2 C vanilla ice cream
In a blender, mix pineapple concentrate and pineapple juice until combined. Add vanilla ice cream by half cups, blending after each addition.
Once combined, pour mixture into a bowl. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Freeze for at least 2 hours in freezer. Stir well and place back into freezer until desired consistency (approximately 1-2 more hours).
To serve, place in decorative glasses with straws. Pouring additional pineapple juice (about 1/4 C) in glasses before serving adds a special touch!
I had several taste-testers agree with me that this was the BEST Disney Dole Whip Recipe they had tried. I hope you agree. If you can’t get to Disney World, a few sips of this smooth and sweet drink will take you there if just for a brief moment. Put on the Pandora Disney Princess channel and close your eyes…ahhh…
I appreciate you stopping by!
