Hello again friends!
I have just finished decking the halls at my house and now I have time to share what I’ve been up to!
Today, I am going to show you how I made this Comfort and Joy sign that I hung above my piano.

I have been struggling to find the right piece of decor to hang over my piano for quite some time. I just can’t commit to anything. For now, I thought I’d add a festive sign but wanted to stay in the gold, black and green color palette to match the rest of the room. So, I made this sign!

Look at it closely. Can you see how much work I put into this?
Cricut? No
Silouette? No
Calligraphy? No
Walmart gift bag? YES!!!

I found this cute gift bag at Walmart and snatched it up knowing I could make a sign out of it. I didn’t realize until I got it home that the sides had a beautiful pattern on it, too.
I started this craft as I usually do…with no clue how to get what was in my head to a finished product. I went through my stash of picture frames but didn’t have the right size. I found a pretty gold frame that was almost perfect at a thrift store for $3 plus 20% off on Black Friday.

I began by cutting the bag a little larger than the frame. I then gently removed the handle from the side I chose to use. (this bag has the saying on both sides…so you could get two signs out of it)
To get an even edge, I folded the paper over until it fit snugly inside my frame.

D-O-N-E!

I know, you thought I really worked hard on this craft. I did. I worked smarter, not harder. This project costs me about $6 and only a few minutes.

I thought the sign was so classy that I gave my little owl friend a golden bow to wear around his neck.

And another cheap and easy DIY is finished!
I appreciate you so much for stopping by Mulch and Paint today! I hope to have a few more DIYs like this coming soon. Stay tuned!
Until next time,

Please PIN this for later!!!

I saw your art and had to come and see how you made it. I laughed when I saw you made it with a bag. It looks wonderful, great job.
Work smarter, not harder. This one was just too easy…it made for a short tutorial! Merry Christmas Leanna! Thank you for being such a wonderful party host!
Your sign is so beautiful Kristi! Thank you so much for sharing at Charming Homes and Gardens.

Thank you so much Bev! I love stopping in and visiting with you and Marilyn each week at Over the Moon. Thank you for featuring my Christmas sign. I’m not always on the “smarter” side of things–but in this case, I think I am on the smarter end because that sign was just too easy. Merry Christmas!
