Hello again!
Welcome to my Fall 2021 One Room Challenge Week 2!
Last week, I shared the BEFORE photos of my Breakfast Room aka the lunchroom and the idea board that my daughter-in-law and I agreed on for the refresh. Today, I start spending money! Fun! Fun!
The most important element of the room (to me) is the curtains. I want big, bold and different. The color pallet we want to use is primarily orange and blue tones. Here’s what we chose.
How can you not be happy when you look at these curtains?
I plan to use the existing wood rods and hangers that are currently in the lunchroom and will convert these new rod curtains into pinch-pleated curtains and hang them from wooden rings. The price for these curtains was very reasonable and will give a high-end custom feel to the room.
For the table and chairs, I want a round pedestal table with an upholstered bench as well as Windsor chairs for seating. Here is what I ordered.

My older home has windows that are not standard sizes. I tried to find bamboo window shades online for the two windows in the room, but because they are not standard (along with each window being different widths), I will have to have them custom cut. I plan to purchase those from Lowe’s.

The last purchases for now will be for lighting. Kaytlen found a beautiful hanging fixture for the room that is traditional and timeless. Two table lamps that are similar to the fixture will sit on the light oak sideboard.

As much fun as spending money is (not)…I do hope to find some great low-cost projects to add to the room, too. I hope to share the first DIY project for this room makeover with you next week!
I now have the plan and am excited to see how everything comes together!
Thank you so much for stopping by Mulch and Paint today!
Until next time,
