There’s only a few days until Halloween, so if you’re in need of some simple Halloween decor, here it is! My daughter, Mary, hosted a Halloween party and needed some simple and inexpensive decorations, so we headed to our local Dollar Tree for inspiration.
Let me show you two of the crafts we made.
SKULL DISPLAY
To make a skull display that almost gives the appearance of floating skulls, we bought glass candlesticks, clear plastic party plates, Spanish moss and skulls. I also had clear E6000 for the adhesive.

I used the E6000 to attach the plastic plate onto the glass candlestick. After the glue had dried, I simply centered a skull on the plate and glued it on with the E6000. Spanish moss was then glued on around the base of the skull.

SKELETON SILHOUETTES
When Mary and I were working on these skeleton silhouettes, we didn’t get as many photos as we should have. In her defense, she recorded the process instead of photos.
We began by using two frames from Dollar Tree that had the saying “Hey Boo”. I removed the inside and spray painted them white. For the frames, I gave them a gold patina by spraying gold spray paint onto a paper towel and gently wiping the frames with the gold paint.
We used several other frames that I had picked up at different yard sales throughout the years and sprayed those gold, too.

While I was prepping the frames, Mary was working on the skeleton silhouettes. To begin, she looked online for downloadable photos that she could use. Once she had her silhouettes, she printed and cut all of them out. She tried to cut around all of the black areas, but a shortcut would be to just print and place them in the frame.
Using mod podge, she glued the silhouettes to foam board that was pre-cut to fit inside each frame.

Once the silhouettes had dried, we hung them on the wall and stretched faux spider webs (also from Dollar Tree) across them.

I hope that these simple Halloween decorations inspire you to get your spook on and start crafting!
Thank you so much for stopping by Mulch and Paint today and visiting with me!
Until next time,
